How you start your morning can have a major effect on the rest of your day. By developing some good morning habits, you can set yourself up for success. Here are four ideas to incorporate into your life immediately after you wake up.
Go ahead and hit the snooze alarm, but don’t fall back asleep! Instead, break into a smile and think about something positive. Maybe you repeat an affirming mantra, remind yourself what you’re grateful for, or name one thing you’re looking forward to today.
Make Your Bed
This simple task takes just a few minutes, but can really change your day. By making your bed right after getting out of it, you can already say that you’ve completed one task for the day. This encourages you to do more and have a productive day.
Stretch Your Body
Lay down on the floor next to your bed, perhaps on top of a rug or yoga mat, and do a few stretches or yoga poses. This helps you wake up a little, loosen muscles, and increase blood flow. Start with a simple child’s pose or butterfly stretch to warm up and then move on to more complicated moves.
Drink Some Lemon Water
Drinking a lukewarm glass of water every day with half a lemon squeezed into it will cleanse your liver and kidneys, prevent colds, and keep your skin looking young and healthy. It also alkalizes the body which reduces acidity. It’s recommended to use a straw for drinking to avoid harming the enamel on your teeth.
