How To Host a Great Memorial Day BBQ
OnMemorial Day will be here soon, but it is still not too late to celebrate the official start of summer by throwing a fabulous Memorial Day BBQ. Follow these three tips to throw a barbecue your guests will remember.
Keep it Simple
No one wants to feel stressed out at a barbecue. It is possible to enjoy your own party, the secret is preparing as much as possible the day before. That means making sure your grill is ready to go and that your food is prepped as much as possible. You can avoid a lot of hassle by keeping the menu for the day as short as possible. Consider offering only one or two entrees and sticking to a cooler of beer, soda and wine for drink options. Instead of taking the time to prepare side dishes and appetizers, pick up a few pre-made ones at the supermarket.
Keep it Fun
There is more to a successful barbecue than good food and drinks — it has to be fun. All great parties need great music. Create a playlist, load it to your phone and drag out your favorite bluetooth portable speaker. No portable bluetooth speakers? Position your home’s speakers, so they are pointing outside and turn up the volume. Don’t forget to plan a few age appropriate games and activities to add a bit of excitement.
Keep it Collaborative
If you don’t have much time, you shouldn’t have to choose between having a Memorial Day BBQ and not. If your time is tight, consider hosting a potluck or even a Bring-Your-Own-Protein grilling party where you provide the grill and guests bring something to cook on it.
In the end, it isn’t the food, activities or music which make a memorable Memorial Day BBQ, it is the people you share the day with.
