4 Tips For Summer Stargazing
OnSummer is finally here and that means it’s time to get outside and explore our world with all the daylight we’re getting right now. However, it also means the weather is nice enough to spend evenings outdoors. Grab your kids, significant other, or a few friends for a night of stargazing with these tips.
Pick the Right Location
The stars are easiest to see when your eyes aren’t taking in any other light. This means you’ll have the best viewing experience if you get away from city lights. Drive out to the country, get high up on a hill or mountain, or take the boat out on the water for the clearest vision.
Bring the Right Gear
Summer days can be plenty warm, but summer nights can get chilly, so be sure to bring along a blanket or sweatshirt. Bug repellent is useful so you don’t have to cut the night short due to annoying insects. And of course, some binoculars or a telescope are essential items!
Pair the Adventure with Technology
There are apps you can download to your phone that allow you to point your camera at the sky and it will identify which stars you are seeing. You can also write down ideas or things you see and research them before or after your excursion. Learning about famous astronomers is a great way to engage children in what they’re seeing.
Set Up a Pre-Game Party
If you are viewing the stars from your own backyard, use a fire pit or heater and bring an outdoor patio set nearby to enjoy some drinks, snacks, and good conversation while you wait for dusk. Shop for these outdoor items and much more at your nearest Marlo Furniture location!
