4 Tips To Winterize Your Beautiful Skin
OnWinter brings to mind oversized sweaters, cuddling with a soft throw by the fireplace, long walks in the fresh snow… and unfortunately dried-out skin. Some of us love winter, some of us don’t, but like it or not, cold winter days will dry out your beautiful skin. Here are some tips to keep your skin soft and glowing throughout the long, cold winter.
Moisturize Often
The key to supple skin is moisturized skin. Apply moisturizer, preferably an oil-based, not water-based, right after washing to lock in the moisture. This is especially true for exposed parts of the skin including the face, neck, and hands. Although feet aren’t usually exposed in the winter, apply plenty of moisturizers to them, too.
Tip: If you run out of over the counter moisturizers, head to the pantry. Coconut oil, avocado oil, or olive oil blended with essential oils creates a naturally fragrant homemade moisturizer.
Exfoliate Dry Skin
Use a gentle exfoliator product to wash away dry dead skin. This will promote and regenerate new, healthy skin and will help your moisturizer work better and last longer.
Remember Sunscreen
Even though it’s cold outside, damaging ultraviolet light from the sun can continue to damage the skin’s surface causing premature aging. Use a moisturizer or makeup with an SPF and apply it daily throughout the entire year.
Tip: Look for moisturizers that already include SPF protection to get a two for one product.
Keep Exposed Skin Covered
The cold, dry air is hard on your hands, neck, and all exposed skin. Always wear gloves hat, and a scarf while outside to protect your skin from harsh winter weather.
