Show Your Sofa Some T.L.C. (Tender Loving Cleaning)
OnWe love our sofas. They are extremely versatile and they serve us in so many ways: nap spot, pet spot, playground, and snack stop. To keep them fresh and clean, we should add them to our regular cleaning task lists. Upholstered furniture like sofas, loveseats, and couches collect dust, allergens, pet fur/dander, crumbs, and other invisible, unhealthy particles. Here are four tips to show your sofa some TLC: Tender Loving Cleaning.
Clean Your Sofa Regularly
Regular cleaning will extend the life of your sofa and all upholstered furniture. Vacuum your sofa on a regular basis to remove dirt, dust, pet hair, and other invisible particles. Vacuum the back, arms, and underneath the cushions, the top and bottom of all cushions and pillows, and inside all the crevices. If your sofa is used daily by multiple people, consider using a steam cleaner.
Disinfect Your Sofa
There are a variety of products that clean and disinfect sofas. Look underneath the cushions for a label with recommended cleaning instructions. A vacuum cleaner is the first tool to show your sofa some tender loving cleaning. For stains, use a mild soap or spot remover and blot with a damp sponge. Sanitizing is also important to remove allergens, bacteria, etc. Use a home steam cleaner or spray a disinfectant like Lysol directly on the fabric. You can also spray a homemade solution of white vinegar and water, proven to remove bacteria. Air dry.
Consult a Professional
If you have a large family, small children, or pets in your home, consult a local cleaning company to professionally deep clean your sofa and upholstered furniture. Some experts recommend once or twice a year.
During these uncertain times that require us to spend more time at home, your friends at Marlo Furniture encourage you to practice social distancing, wash your hands regularly, disinfect surfaces, and show your family some much-needed, well-deserved tender loving care, TLC.
